This masterpiece of travel literature allows us to go to a country that in so many ways no longer exists. Heinrich Harrer’s Seven Years in Tibet has been my go-to book for this winter. ![]() For the past two weeks I’ve been accompanying an Austrian mountain climber to the roof of the world. I think they’re where we can discover wonder in the old world. We should all of us take the time to find them in our lives. That might sound odd coming from an author, but so busy was I before the pandemic that I didn’t have time to savour the words of others.ĭowning tools to focus on life this year has allowed my mind to be flooded with new ideas. I’ve become more of a reader since settling into this new life. It’s a journey that has taken me from Tibet to the Appalachian Trail in the US.
